AALMG Signs Bellagio Resort & Casino for Licensing Program
 

Bellagio Resort & Casino, a AAA Five Diamond award-winning Las Vegas property, has hired All-American Licensing & Management Group (AALMG) to develop a licensing program that will bring the Bellagio Collection of luxury-branded products to retailers nationwide. The collection will include a variety of products, including bedding, bath, furniture, lighting, jewelry, and apparel all based on the Bellagio brand.
 

DenTek Signs for Looney Tunes Kids’ Oral Health Products
 

DenTek has licensed Looney Tunes imagery for three new kids’ oral health products: toothbrushes, a toothbrush/storage case set, and toothpaste. Specially designed to fit kids’ hands and mouths, the toothbrush handles come in fun colors to complement the Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird artwork. The handles also feature thumb and finger grips for a more stable hold, while the head and neck are smaller to fit in kids’ mouths. The head’s soft bristles make for effective—but comfortable—cleaning and the molded tongue cleaner on the back of the head allows for cleaning other surfaces of the mouth. The products are currently available at Dollar General stores.
 
The Looney Tunes Show currently airs on Cartoon Network and Classic Looney Tunes airs on Cartoon Network and Boomerang.
 

Sanrio Launches Hello Kitty Global Campaign
 

In celebration of Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary, Sanrio has announced a new global campaign, Share a Hug with Hello Kitty!. The hug-a-thon will make its way to the U.S. starting on January 21, International Hug Day. The campaign started late last year in Japan and focuses on bringing smiles to Hello Kitty fans of all ages.
 
To promote the campaign, Hello Kitty will appear at special events where she will give hugs to her fans and spread the message of fun and friendship. At every appearance, the hugs will be tallied and added to the Global Hug Report, which will be displayed on http://www.sanrio.com/global-hug-report/. Limited-edition 40th anniversary commemorative products can be found on sanrio.com and at select Sanrio boutique stores. Updates will also be available on Hello Kitty’s social media platforms, where fans will be encouraged to tag and share their posts using #HelloKittyHugs. This initiative honors and celebrates Hello Kitty fans, while promoting the company philosophy of friendship, happiness, and community.

Warner Bros., ProFlowers Partner for The Bachelor Bouquet
 

ProFlowers has signed with Warner Bros. as the official floral partner of the romance reality series The Bachelor. Fans of the show can experience a piece of the romance of the show with the Bachelor Bouquet. Inspired by the series’ iconic rose ceremony seen at the end of each episode, the bouquet is made up of 24 long-stemmed red roses and features five sparkling rhinestones nestled throughout to add a touch of glamour.
 
ProFlowers has also launched a Facebook sweepstakes associated with the partnership. One grand prize winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Los Angeles to attend this season’s “After the Final Rose” episode of The Bachelor.

LIMA Conducts Global Survey, Predicts Growth in 2014
 

The Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) has conducted a Global Survey of its members and learned that 81 percent of respondents expect their licensing business to grow this year with nearly two-thirds expecting growth of 4 percent or better (35 percent expect an increase of 7 percent or more and 27 percent expect an increase of 4 to 6 percent).
 
Additionally, the Global Survey found that 73 percent of respondents expect the percentage of licensing business at their company outside their home country will increase, and 40 percent expect the number of licensing-related people in their companies to increase over the coming year.
 
Among those answering the survey, 32 percent were licensors, 26 percent were licensees, and 25 percent were agents. Fifty-nine percent of respondents are based in the U.S. and 12 percent are based in the UK, with others identifying themselves as being from Europe, Canada, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Discovery Kids Partners with Cypher, Tek Nek for New Lines of Adventure Products

 

Discovery Kids has partnered with Cypher Entertainment and Tek Nek Toys to develop new lines of children’s products. Cypher Entertainment will debut a line of Jurassic Action toys, including the Dino Excavation Kit and an Interactive Dinosaur Kit, which will use augmented reality technology to trigger an interactive 3-D dinosaur directly to a smartphone. The kits will come with digging tools and protective glasses to excavate fossilized bones and reconstruct a dinosaur. The line will also come with a trading card mobile game.
 
Tek Nek Toys will introduce a line of outdoor adventure and role-play products that will include a ride-on vehicle, a bug vacuum, a light-up viewing scope, a big pocket vest, a wrist/watch compass, a periscope, a magnifying glass, a creature catching net, and a pop-up critter hamper. The line will also come with an electronic talking puzzle map of the U.S. and a number of play sets designed to let kids step into the roles of firefighters, police officers, soldiers, and handymen.
 
The products will be available across mass-market retailers, specialty retail stores, toy stores, consumer electronic stores, mid-tier department stores, and Internet retailers later this year.

Debra Joester, Joanne Loria Named to LIMA Licensing Hall of Fame
 

The board of directors of the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) has selected Debra Joester and Joanne Loria, co-founders of The Joester Loria Group, for induction into the LIMA Licensing Industry Hall of Fame. Joester and Loria will be honored at the annual LIMA Awards Ceremony on June 17 during the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.
 
Joester, the company’s president and CEO, and Loria, the executive vice president and COO, have presided over numerous highly successful, award-winning global brand extensions and breakthrough initiatives for some of the world’s most recognizable brands and emerging trends. Joester and Loria’s many accomplishments include strategic brand extensions for food, automotive, and media; reigniting Care Bears as a multi-billion dollar property; and establishing successful programs for pop culture breakout hits.

Sprout Orders The Good Night Show Spinoff
 

Little Nina has been added to Sprout’s portfolio of original series. The animated series will feature the adventures of Nina, the host of The Good Night Show, as a young Latina girl. The series is expected to debut mid-year next year.
 
The network has ordered 52 x 11-minute episodes of the animated show that will take viewers into the vibrant, multicultural neighborhood of Nina and her best friend Star. The show’s multilingual approach will incorporate English, Spanish, and sign language and will emphasize the value of communicating across multiple languages and appreciating other cultures.
 

The Jim Henson Co. Launches Sid the Science Kid Live!
 

Sid the Science Kid has been adapted as a live stage production by The Jim Henson Co., in conjunction with Mills Entertainment, Gables Grove Productions, and The Brad Simon Organization. The live show, based on the PBS Kids series, launched its 40-city U.S. tour on January 17.
 
The live stage experience will show Sid and his friends on a day of adventure, using their five senses to explore, ask questions, and find answers. The show will feature audience interactive activities, cooperative problem solving, and a surprise sixth sense.

Saban Brands, Bandai Partner for Digimon Fusion Product Line
 

Saban Brands has partnered with toy licensee Bandai to produce a product line including toys, trading cards, and digital apps for Digimon Fusion, which is entering its sixth season. The first product in the line, Digimon Fusion Collectible Card Game, is now available. Saban Brands and Bandai will reveal card artwork through a “Tuesday FUSEday” online promotion running in January, where three cards will be unveiled on the Digimon Fusion Facebook page each week. Additional Digimon Fusion products will be available for purchase beginning mid-February at various retailers.
 
The Digimon Fusion Shoutmon Smash online game will be available this month on DigimonFusion.com, MyVortexx.com, and other websites worldwide. Saban Brands will supply additional digital games and digital assets to support TV partners globally for Digimon Fusion.

Discovery Communications, Gramercy Products Inc. Partner for Puppy Bowl Line
 

Discovery Communications has partnered with Gramercy Products Inc. to create a line of product based on Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl. The new line of pet accessories and apparel will be available this month at Petco, Petco.com, and AnimalPlanetStore.com. The Puppy Bowl collection will include dog toys, bowls, beds, feeding mats, blankets, and apparel. The products will be featured when the Puppy Bowl airs on Sunday, February 2 on Animal Planet.
 

Kidz Bop, Universal Studios Partner for 25th Album Marketing Campaign
 

Kidz Bop has partnered with Universal Studios to launch its 25th album on January 14 to celebrate Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s release of Despicable Me 2 on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital platforms and in anticipation of Universal Studios Hollywood’s new ride, “Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem.” Kidz Bop is also holding a national contest appealing to fans of the Minion characters.
 
Kids can enter the “Minion Mayhem Super Contest” at kidzbop.com/DM2, where one child and his/her family will win a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood to attend the spring grand opening of the new ride.

DJ Murphy Signs Publishing Deal for The Zelfs
 

DJ Murphy has signed a deal for the rights to create a monthly magazine for The Zelfs in the UK, confirmed by Lisle International. The publication will target kids ages 5 and up; build awareness of the property; and bring fans new character stories, activities, and opportunities to add to their collection with Zelf covermounts. The magazine will be available at retail this fall.

Tiger Aspect Appoints New Licensing Agents for Mr. Bean Brand
 

In preparation for the 25th anniversary of the Mr. Bean brand in 2015, Tiger Aspect Productions has appointed two new licensing agents to increase activity in several territories. J&M Brands has signed on for the Benelux territories where Mr. Bean is a firm favorite. Industry veterans Monique Beck and Jannienke Mulder head the new agency. Additionally, Limo Licensing Ltd. will represent the brand in the Nordic terriroties.

Super RTL, DreamWorks Animation Expand Relationship
 

Super RTL has signed a deal with DreamWorks Animation to secure the local merchandising rights to franchise blockbusters such as Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon, as well as other TV series and films.
 
The DreamWorks brand is well-known in Germany, which SUPER RTL will aim to translate into the world of children’s toys and products, in conjunction with its retail partners.

BBC Worldwide UK Reveals New Products at Spring Fair
 

Spring Fair 2014 will feature new products from BBC Worldwide, including products from key licensees and BBC’s directly sourced product team. Brands include Kirstie Allsopp, Top Gear, Only Fools and Horses, Doctor Who, Something Special, and Charlie and Lola.  
 
Kirstie Allsopp has designed exclusive toiletries with Sapona, greetings cards with Cardmix, and Christmas decorations with Festive. Kirstie will appear at Spring Fair for two question-and-answer sessions, which are open to all attendees, and she will spend time during the day on each of the licensees’ stands.
 
Rainbow Designs will feature a new addition to its Charlie and Lola range: the Chatterbox Lola doll. In addition, Portico Designs Ltd. will display new greetings card for Charlie and Lola, alongside its calendars.
 
Dynamite Product will dedicate half of its stand to Top Gear to launch the first range of car cleaning kits and accessories for sale in the UK.
 
Doctor Who product on show will include posters and prints from GB Posters and Pyramid Posters, dress-up clothing from Rubie’s Costume Co., and gift products from Half Moon Bay. In addition, Lovarzi will have its replica scarves and Doctor Who jumpers and Spike Leisurewear will exhibit Doctor Who T-shirts.

Cartamundi Debuts the Shuffle
 

Cartamundi has launched its new games brand Shuffle at London Toy Fair. Shuffle is a brand new product category that combines playing cards and digital technology for an enhanced way to play card games with support from tablets and smartphones.
 
Products are supported and boosted by a partnership between Cartamundi and Hasbro that brings some well known brands to the concept, including Transformers, My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop, Play-doh, Monopoly, Cluedo, Trivial Pursuit, and Boggle. Games can be played as card games or enhanced by the Shuffle app, downloadable from the App and Google Play stores, allowing players to bring the Chance cards to life in Monopoly, animate a shopping mall in Littlest Pet Shop, set up the app to act as mission control in Transformers, or create customized pictures of friends and family using the Guess Who imagery.

Rights Management International Reveals Plans for the Celebrity Big Brother Housemate 
 

Right Management International (RMI) is working on the rollout of Sam Faiers’s “By Samantha” brand this year. Sam is the most popular female in ITV2’s The Only Way is Essex and is now a housemate in The Celebrity Big Brother House. Faier is set to launch her own beauty line this spring. The “By Samantha” brand of beachwear and sleepwear will follow soon after. Three million young adult females watch The Only Way is Essex every week, while 3.3 million tune in to Celebrity Big Brother.
 
Faier is co-founder of Minnie’s Boutique, also featured on The Only Way is Essex.  Minnie’s had 46,000 hits per house when the website launched. Faier recently supported Asda’s Children in Need campaign by modeling the Pudsey bear onesies, which sold out in all sizes in minutes.
 
Faier has more than 1 million Twitter followers and is gaining new followers every day. She starred on the front cover of OK magazine recently and is now a columnist for the magazine.
 
The range will include men’s and women’s T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies. The range will target teens and adults ages 18 to 35. The range will be launched at high street fashion retail and major UK stores in the spring and summer.
 
Creatively inspired by a fabulous new designer look and supporting style guide, the apparel range is part of a Village People brand licensing and merchandising strategy appealing across multiple generations and demographics.
 
The Village People brand has generated a turnover of more than $1 billion through music hits and co-branding alone since it arrived onto the music scene in 1977. ITVS GE represents the Village People brand in the UK. It has been appointed by PGS Entertainment to bring the image to the UK market.

DC Thomson’s Licensing Division Appoints License to PR
 

License to PR has been appointed as communications agency for DC Thomson’s growing consumer products division to proactively manage all trade and consumer public relations (PR) activity.
 
License to PR has been hired to execute a comprehensive PR strategy that will raise the profile of the company’s licensing activities, with a specific focus on well-known brands such as The Beano, Dennis the Menace, Jackie, and Maw Broon’s Kitchen.
The agency’s immediate task will be to support DC Thomson’s licensing division and its partners throughout the upcoming toy and gift fairs. In addition to trade publicity, the agency will undertake a strategic year-long national consumer PR campaign for licensed products that includes seasonal gifting.

TVMania UK Set to Launch New Max Steel Range
 

Apparel company TVMania UK will launch a new clothing range based on the superhero brand Max Steel, from Mattel. Max Steel currently airs in the UK weekday mornings on CiTV and weekend mornings on Nickelodeon.
 
TVMania UK will produce a range that covers apparel, nightwear, underwear, swimwear, and accessories, which will launch in the fall and winter.

New TV Episodes Announced for Olly the Little White Van


Ideas at Work has confirmed that Olly the Little White Van will add eight new episodes to its roster this year. The new programs mean 65 episodes will now continually broadcast throughout the year on Milkshake, Cartoonito, and Boomerang.
News of the new episodes follows confirmation that Milkshake will resume daily screenings of series four and five from February following a brief break in January. Series one and two will continue to air on Cartoonito and Boomerang with series four and five on screen from Easter.

Withit Licensing Signs New Deals for Kitties in the Cities
 

Two stationery and bag licensees have been signed for Withit Licensing’s latest property Kitties in the Cities. Kidabord in France and Proburo in Russia will both develop products for launch at retail in 2015, explained director of licensing Richard Woolf. Withit has worked with Proburo for several years and recently developed a relationship with Kidabord and is confident both companies will be successful.

New Licensees Sign on for Matt Hatter 
 

ITV Studios Global Entertainment has signed two new UK and Ireland licensees for Platinum Films’ boys’ property Matt Hatter Chronicles.
 
Two new partners, London Europe Group and Tactic Games UK, will showcase their lines at the Toy Fairs in London and Nuremberg, and will launch product at retail at the end of this year as part of the first phase of the consumer products roll-out strategy for the brand.
 
London Europe Group’s new Matt Hatter range will feature watches and clocks as well as back-to-school stationery lines. Tactic Games UK will have a range of puzzles, some with 3-D elements.
 
A third series of Platinum Films’ Matt Hatter Chronicles launches on CITV this year following on from a successful two years, which have seen its TV fan base build. London Europe Group and Tactic Games UK join an expanding program of licensees that includes Penguin, Topps, Titan, Smith & Brooks, TDP Aykroyd, Character World, Pedigree, Trade Mark Collections, VMC, and master toy licensee The Simba Dickie Group.

Wild Pumpkin to Represent Chupa Chups
 

Wild Pumpkin Licensing International in Australia has been appointed as the exclusive licensing agent for Chupa Chups, the famous lollipop brand, in Australia and New Zealand.
Wild Pumpkin plans to roll out a program over the course of the three-year deal, in which they will secure and manage licensees across a range of lifestyle categories for teens, including apparel, cosmetics, fashion accessories, footwear, and homewares.
