  Sun-Mate Signs Distributor Agreements for The Jungle Book Toys

Sun-Mate Corp., the master global toy partner for The Jungle Book, has secured five new international distributor agreements. New partners include Hunter Leisure, Australia; Flash Toys, Latin America; Haka, New Zealand; Prima Toys, South Africa; and MC Entertainment, Benelux. Sun-Mate will provide marketing support to each company, including a TV advertising campaign and promotional spots.

  Wicked Cool to Develop Toy Line Based on The Wiggles

U.S. toymaker Wicked Cool has signed a master toy license for the children's entertainment group, The Wiggles. Wicked Cool will manufacture, distribute, and market a broad range of toys for preschoolers based on the children's property to coincide with The Wiggles' debut of its new cast and worldwide tour.

Under the agreement for North America and Australia, facilitated by The Wiggles' licensing agency, Brandberry, Wicked Cool intends to develop plush and musical instruments. The Wiggles line targets children ages 2 to 6 and is expected to launch at retail beginning in the fall.

  Leigh Anne Brodsky Named Managing Director of Peanuts Worldwide and Iconix Entertainment

Iconix Brand Group, Inc., has appointed Leigh Anne Brodsky as managing director of Peanuts Worldwide, a joint venture with Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates. Brodsky will oversee the global business for the Peanuts property, including the launch of the recently announced 2015 feature film from Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios. She will also oversee and develop the Iconix Entertainment division and seek out properties for the company's portfolio.

A licensing professional for more than 20 years, Brodsky was formerly president at Nickelodeon Consumer Products. She handled properties including SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Blue's Clues, Comedy Central's South Park, and MTV's Jersey Shore, as well as several strategic acquisitions that she initiated such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Beatrix Potter. Earlier in her career, she worked with entertainment properties such as Saturday Night Live, Lassie, and Garfield. In 2011, Brodsky was selected for induction into the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association's (LIMA) Hall of Fame.

  Feld Motor Sports Partners with Walmart for Monster Jam Events and Merchandise

Monster Jam, an entertainment property of Feld Motor Sports, and Walmart have partnered to offer customers specially priced family four-packs of tickets that will be available for Monster Jam events in more than 70 markets. Additionally, select Walmart store parking lots will feature Monster Jam trucks, including Grave Digger, Max-D, and Team Hot Wheels Firestorm. Customers will have the chance to get driver autographs while also stocking up on merchandise from the in-store Monster Jam merchandise pallets. Monster Jam truck display events kicked off on Friday, January 4 and will continue through March.

Walmart currently sells officially licensed Monster Jam merchandise including toys, video games, bedding, apparel, and birthday cakes. The new entertainment program also brings new Monster Jam products that will complement the current Monster Jam assortment at Walmart locations across the country. Customers can now purchase 2013 Hot Wheels Monster Jam die-cast vehicles and play sets, men's and boys' T-shirts, and Walmart-exclusive licensed Monster Jam souvenir items.

  Impecca to Unveil Fruit Ninja Consumer Electronics Accessories

Impecca, producer of audio, video, and computer products, has launched the Impecca Fruit Ninja consumer electronics accessory line of Bluetooth speakers, USB drives, ear buds, headphones, speakers, bags, and cases at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held from January 8 to 11 in Las Vegas. The Impecca and Fruit Ninja partnership was initiated by HAP Consulting, Halfbrick's worldwide licensing agent.

Geared to the more than 350 million players of the Fruit Ninja app for iOS and Android devices, Impecca's inaugural Fruit Ninja product line features an assortment of accessories based on the game. Developed in partnership with Fruit Ninja's creator, Halfbrick Studios, Impecca's Fruit Ninja-branded accessory line will be available between March and April.

  PMI Adds Walt Disney Classics Collection to Its Disney Portfolio

Precious Moments, Inc., (PMI) is adding the Walt Disney Classics Collection to its Disney Portfolio, which also includes the Disney Showcase Collection line and the co-branded Disney and Precious Moments line. The initial introduction will include approximately 12 designs, including hanging ornaments and figurines. These will appear in the PMI March 2013 launch catalog, with first deliveries to retailers beginning September 15. Additional products will be introduced in the company's June launch.

  Domo Partners with WBCP for DC Comics Collection

Big Tent Entertainment has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) on behalf of DC Entertainment in a new licensing agreement with Funko and WBCP. The long-term deal will engage fans of both Domo and DC Comics characters with a line of co-branded collectible figures. The new Domo X DC line will feature Domo assuming the identities of Justice League staples Superman, Batman, and more.

Launching in February, retailers in the U.S. and Canada, including Barnes and Noble, Entertainment Earth, Fry's, Diamond Comics, and will carry the collectible Domo figures. The line is highlighted by five 4-inch Super Stylized Pop! Vinyl Collectible Figures with Domo donning Superman, Batman (The Dark Knight and Classic), The Flash, and Green Lantern attire.

In addition, a Blind Box Vinyl Collectible Mystery Mini line of figures comprised of nine 2.5-inch characters, including DC's superheroes and super-villains, will be released.

  Hasbro and PopCap Partner for Face-to-Face Games Based on Bejeweled

Hasbro, Inc., and PopCap Games, a division of EA Games, have entered into a licensing agreement to bring the digital game, Bejeweled, into the world of face-to-face games.

Hasbro will introduce two games in the spring based on PopCap's Bejeweled game, which has sold more than 50 million digital units worldwide. The new physical games also include digital values for online Bejeweled players, such as a download of the Bejeweled 3 computer game. In Hasbro's new Bejeweled game, players swap gems on the game board to match three or more like gems to win. In addition, the Bejeweled Frenzy game is a fast-paced card game that challenges players to match gems and build stacks of cards as fast as they can.

  Chris Protheroe Passes Away at Age 54

Chris Protheroe, president and group managing director of CPLG, passed away on December 28 at age 54, after a six-month battle with cancer.

Protheroe spent his early years working for BBC Worldwide, Marvel, Yorkshire TV, Penguin Books, and Sony Signatures, where he ran the very successful European licensing program for FIFA World Cup 1998.

In July 1999, Protheroe joined CPLG as head of sport, managing the licensing programs for Euro 2000 and FIFA World Cup 2002, and continued to grow CPLG's sports division to include representation of the major UK governing bodies and national football, cricket, and rugby teams as well as St. Andrews Links, the home of golf. In recognition of his successful growth of CPLG's sports business, Protheroe was promoted to CPLG's president and group managing director in 2010.

  Brandberry Becomes Exclusive Agent for Squaredy Cats

Brandberry has entered into a licensing agreement with the Squaredy Cats brand. Under the new agreement, Brandberry will represent Squaredy Cats globally in all categories, with plans to expand the brand by finding new licensees, strategic alliances, and retail partners. Squaredy Cats made its debut in 2011 and has been sold at retailers such as Toys "R" Us and Build-A-Bear Workshop. Each square shaped cat displays an embroidered personal message on its side that reflects a theme. The Squaredy Cats creators, Monkey Doodle Dandy, have drawn more than 1,000 cats and develop new cats weekly.

  Universal Partnerships and Licensing Signs for Uglydoll Digital Character Rights

Universal Partnerships and Licensing (UP&L) has inked a deal with Pretty Ugly to represent the company's Uglydoll franchise across all digital platforms, including interactive games, apps, widgets, and virtual goods. The deal is the first of its kind for UP&L.

The studio already has a tie to the franchise, with Chris Meledandri's Illumination Entertainment developing an animated film around the Uglydoll characters. UP&L has turned Illumination family films, including Despicable Me, Hop, and The Lorax, into digital spin-offs through social games. UP&L will now have the opportunity to do the same for Uglydoll.

  MGA Entertainment Appoints Studio Licensing as Canadian Representative

MGA Entertainment, Inc., has appointed Studio Licensing, Inc., to represent its brand portfolio for licensing and merchandising in Canada. Studio Licensing will be directly responsible for expanding the MGA business in Canada through untapped licensing categories and dynamic retail and marketing programs. Studio Licensing will liaise with the MGA Canada team to oversee growth of properties including Lalaloopsy, Moxie Girlz, Bratz, Bratzillas, Novi Stars, and Little Tikes.

  OYO Sportstoys Signs with NFL for Building Block Mini-Figures

OYO Sportstoys has signed licensing agreements with the National Football League (NFL) and the NFL Players Association for officially licensed building block mini-figures that feature the logos and likenesses of players from all 32 NFL teams.

OYO mini-figures are designed with rotating forearms and bending knees to allow them to run, sit, squat, and grip and throw a football. Each OYO, which is compatible with popular toy building blocks, has its own unique identification code, called a DNA number, that identifies when it was produced and sets it apart from other figures in each new product release.

  So So Happy Signs with Frankford Candy for Confections

Art Impressions, creator of lifestyle brand So So Happy, has signed a deal with licensee Frankford Candy, known for its licensed confection lines for Nickelodeon, Disney, Marvel, and Sanrio. The So So Happy collection will include both chocolate and sugar candies, with an emphasis on seasonal items such as valentine heart boxes, filled Easter eggs, Halloween pass-outs, and gift sets. The line will be available beginning in December.

  Xcel Brands, Inc. Signs Licensing Deal with Jerry Leigh

Xcel Brands, Inc., has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Jerry Leigh. This agreement will give Jerry Leigh the licensing rights to manufacture and distribute girls' apparel for the Isaac Mizrahi New York brand. The collection will be available at retail this fall.

  Space Enterprises Signs Ravensburger for The Hive Puzzles

Space Enterprises has signed a deal with puzzles and games producer Ravensburger for The Hive-branded jigsaw puzzles for the UK market, with an option to take the products globally in the future.

This is the latest in a string of recent agreements for The Hive. Space has also signed Studio Anne Carlton for refrigerator magnets and Lifeplan for The Hive-branded honey. Other existing UK partners include Mookie for master toy and plush, Avanquest for interactive, EMI Publishing, Blues Clothing, Jupiter Toys, and Aykroyds TDP. LeapFrog also features The Hive content on its LeapPad children's learning tablet and the Leapster game console.

  Evolution Appointed Global Merchandise Licensing Agent for Miramax

Evolution, a global brand management firm, has been selected to serve as the global merchandise licensing agent for the Miramax portfolio of properties, which features more than 700 modern classic film titles.

Key titles under the agreement include Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2, Swingers, Clerks, and Jackie Brown, as well as films such as Bad Santa, Chicago, Gangs of New York, and the Scream, Scary Movie, and Hellraiser horror franchises.

Evolution will provide Miramax with development and execution of large-scale licensing programs, international sub-agent management, retail development, and promotional partnerships. Additionally, Evolution will create branded licensing programs under a newly formed Miramax Legends banner.
