Entertainment One Signs Just Play as Global Master Toy Partner for PJ Masks

Entertainment One (eOne) appointed Just Play as the global master toy partner for its preschool CGI-animated TV series PJ Masks, which launched on Disney Channel and Disney Junior in the U.S. in September. Following its U.S. debut, PJ Masks debuted on France 5 in December and is set to roll-out on Disney Junior channels around the world this year, including the UK, Italy, Spain, and Germany.
PJ Masks toys from Just Play will launch at retail this fall in the U.S. and will roll out to international territories next year. The toys will include action figures, play sets, vehicles, plush, dress-up, and role-play.
eOne will build consumer engagement for PJ Masks through a raft of marketing activity, including a new PJ Masks website, a free app, and music videos set to launch early this year.
Produced by eOne and Frog Box, in collaboration with French animation studio TeamTO, along with Disney Junior and France 5, PJ Masks is based on French author Romuald Racioppo’s popular picture book series Les Pyjamasques. By day, 6-year-olds Connor, Amaya, and Greg go to school like kids everywhere. But when they put on their pajamas and activate their animal amulets, the crime-fighters magically transform into their superhero alter egos and become the PJ Masks: Catboy, super-fast and agile; Gekko, super strong and able to scale walls; and Owlette, with the power to fly and see great distances. In each episode, the three heroes embark on exciting adventures and work together to solve mysteries and learn valuable lessons along the way.

Cartamundi Debuts Shuffle Subbuteo

Cartamundi, a market leader in playing cards and card games, has announced the launch of the Shuffle Subbuteo card game, licensed by Hasbro. Available this month, it is a brand new version of the classic Hasbro game in card format. It is also part of the groundbreaking Shuffle range — Cartamundi’s product category that combines playing cards and digital technology for an enhanced way to play card games with support from tablets and smartphones.

Like the table-top game, Shuffle Subbuteo card game allows you to pass, tackle and beat the goalie (or try to save the ball). But this clever card-matching game is also about timing your moves, choosing your tactics and outwitting your opponents.

Aimed at two players aged six and above the free Shuffle Subbuteo app (available through Apple iOS and Android) adds a digital twist, with a scoreboard timer and stadium sounds that bring the game to life.

Super Impulse Expands with World’s Smallest Line

Super Impulse will expand its product line this spring to include tiny versions of four Mattel toys: the Fisher-Price Chatter Telephone, the Fisher-Price Rock-A-Stack, the Magic 8 Ball, and the Fisher-Price Little People School Bus. World’s Smallest toys are designed with the same working functions as the original classic toys, but in the smallest sizes ever created.
The Fisher-Price Chatter Telephone will feature a friendly face just like its original, with eyes that move up and down, a rotating dial, and rolling wheels that click as it moves. The Fisher-Price Rock-A-Stack will have six colorful stacking rings and a wobbly base that rocks back and forth like the original, and the World’s Smallest Magic 8 will help kids with life’s toughest questions, just like its predecessor.

Interactive Digital Series from Nickelodeon UK

Nickelodeon UK and Ireland has commissioned an interactive digital series from London-based creative agency, Ralph. Entitled Tinkershrimp & Dutch, the five minute, five-episode series will premiere across, and Nick Play starting this month with behind the scenes videos of the series launching at Starring the voice talent of John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Attack the Block) Sam Riley (Control, Maleficent) Darren Evans (Submarine, The Fifth Estate) and Alex Lowe (House of Fools, My Week with Marilyn) Tinkershrimp & Dutch is the first Nickelodeon UK original series commissioned specifically for digital platforms.

Gregor Stevenson, co-creator of the series said, "We wanted to create characters and a world where anything could happen, so spent a lot of time coming up with the most insane, hyper-British situations we could think of. At the core of it though, is basically a story about a group of friends who are trying to have a good time. Oh, and they can travel back in time to foil the schemes of Michael The Fowl, our evil headless chicken.”

Those who access the series on the network’s websites will be able to take part in interactive activities within the series such as helping Tinkershrimp and Dutch spot Michael the Fowl in order to thwart his latest devious plan and creating Michael The Fowl’s disguise. On Nick Play, the episodes will play as a linear narrative without the interactive elements. Created by Gregor Stevenson and Chris Stack, Tinkershrimp & Dutch was pitched as a response to brief from Nickelodeon UK & Ireland digital team. Nickelodeon UK & Ireland holds all broadcast rights for the series.
