  Mezco Toyz Signs Agreement with SPCP for Breaking Bad Merchandise

After a deal with Sony Pictures Consumer Products, Mezco Toyz will create a line of collectibles for the AMC series Breaking Bad. Mezco will offer an assortment of merchandise for the Breaking Bad license, including Mez-Itz, action figures, bobbleheads, accessories, paperweights, and plush. Many of the designs will be available for viewing at, and at the International Toy Fair in February.

  Olly's Licensing Program Driving Ahead

Olly the Little White Van is set for a boost this year as new licensing deals in the UK and Asia have been made for the preschool property.

Following the broadcast of Olly in Asia, EIM in Indonesia has been appointed as licensing agent across all categories, and Asiana has been appointed as licensing agent for South Korea. In the UK, Kiddy Rides has been appointed as a licensee for branded Olly ride-ons, which launched across the country late last year with more ride-ons to launch in retail outlets throughout this year.

  HBO Global Licensing Kicks Off Girls Licensing Program with Two New Products

Along with the second season premiere of HBO's series, Girls, comes a limited-edition set of four nail lacquers by Deborah Lippmann. The collection includes shades tailored to symbolize each of the main characters on the show, including Hannah (hapless hunter green), Marnie (prim and proper pink), Shoshanna (virtuous vivid violet), and Jess (bohemian burgundy).

In addition, Fueled By Ramen is set to release Girls–Volume 1: Music from the HBO Original Series. The album will arrive in stores January 8 and includes new and exclusive tracks from an array of top stars, including fun., Santigold, Grouplove, and Michael Penn. Girls–Volume 1: Music from the HBO Original Series has been specially compiled by the series' music supervisors, Manish Raval and Tom Wolfe—known for their work on TV shows and films including Community, Happy Endings, New Girl, Raising Hope, Donnie Darko, and Jackass Number Two.

  Celebratory E-Book Doctor Who Series Planned

Puffin, in partnership with BBC Worldwide, plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who by releasing a one year e-short series, written by several different authors.

Doctor Who is the longest running sci-fi TV show in the world and celebrates its 50th anniversary on November 23. The eleven e-book short stories, each based on one of the eleven Doctors, will be released on the 23rd of each month, starting in January.

The author of the first story, featuring the first Doctor played by William Hartnell (1963–1966), will be revealed ahead of the publication on the BBC Worldwide Doctor Who Facebook page on January 7.

  Character World Gains Licensing Rights for One Direction Soft Furnishings

Character World has signed a deal to sell its One Direction soft furnishing products across Europe. Character World gained the UK licensing rights to produce home textiles featuring the boy band last year, including duvet sets and accessories available at retailers including Argos, Littlewoods, JD Williams, Amazon, Claire's Accessories, and Wilkinsons. It has now signed the license to sell One Direction products across Europe. The business has secured deals with European retailers, with products currently available in Claire's Accessories stores across Europe.

  UK Leading the Way in Tour de France

The Tour de France brand has received a boost in the UK after announcing that the first stage of the race—the Grand Depart—will take place in Yorkshire in 2014. Full details of routes will be announced in joint press conferences in Leeds and Paris on January 17.

This news will add to the presence of a brand that is represented exclusively by CPLG in both the UK and Benelux. The Tour has already increased in popularity through Bradley Wiggins completing his victory in last year’s race to become the first British winner.

  Miss Universe Organization Signs Exclusive Fragrance License with Omni Scents

The Miss Universe Organization has entered into a relationship with Omni Scents, a fragrance marketer and distributor, to create a line of Miss Universe-branded fragrances. The initial launch next year will consist of three fragrances inspired by Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA. As the organization celebrates more than 60 years of beauty and tradition, the fragrance line will reinforce the brand's dedication to modern perceptions of beauty.

  Doc McStuffins Proving Popular in UK

Disney UK has reported that its newest animation series for preschoolers, Doc McStuffins, has launched with strong ratings on Disney Junior, making it the channel's No. 1 series watched by 3.5 million people in eight weeks. Already green-lit for a second season, the UK success mirrors that in the U.S., where the series became the No. 1 preschool launch in cable TV history among adults and the top cable series among kids.

  P/K Lifestyles Partners with HGTV Home for Decorative Fabric Collections

P/K Lifestyles, a division of P/Kaufmann, and HGTV Home, a line of consumer products under the HGTV brand of Scripps Networks Interactive, Inc., have entered into a license agreement to launch the HGTV Home decorative fabric collections. The HGTV Home fabric collections will offer looks and styles inspired by the HGTV Home lifestyles giving consumers smart and fashionable home décor choices.

  Just Slate Launches Broons Products

The Just Slate Company has launched a new range of home and kitchen products. Inspired by the matriarch of the Broons family, the range offers a collection of vintage-inspired items. Each piece combines the character and nostalgia of the famous Scottish family.

  Teen Actress Gabriela Borges Signs with Univision

Univision Communications Inc., a media company serving Hispanic America, has signed Gabriela Borges, a 13-year-old singer, actress, and dancer. The agreement gives Univision the exclusive rights to represent Borges with global marketing and licensing initiatives including branded consumer products, music, tours, and more.

Borges is best known from her roles in novelas Eva Luna and Corazón Valiente (Fearless Heart). She first appeared on the Univision Network as part of a dance group on the longstanding variety show Sábado Gigante (Giant Saturday), and Don Francisco Presenta (Don Francisco Presents).

  Knockout Appointed as North American Representative for Elmer the Patchwork Elephant

Knockout Licensing has been appointed by Andersen Press to build and manage the licensing program for David McKee's Elmer the Patchwork Elephant for North America. Elmer is the brightly colored patchwork elephant star of British-born author and illustrator David McKee's children's book series. Knockout will focus on expanding the current range of products and finding retail partners to help give the brand exposure in the U.S.

  Jazwares Signs with Art Impressions for So So Happy Plush

Jazwares has entered into an agreement with Art Impressions to create So So Happy figures, plush, and accessories. The line will be available starting in the spring in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and will feature the property's characters, including Lucky, Ozzie, Taco, Mad Dog, and Tribe.

Jazwares' So So Happy line will include 5-inch bean bag plush, 12-inch plush, plush character backpacks, and figures. Ten percent of all proceeds from the toy line will go to organizations that encourage, educate, and support young people worldwide.

  Teresa Guidice Signs Avante Garde, Inc. for Food Products

Teresa Giudice, of Bravo TV's The Real Housewives of New Jersey and NBC's Celebrity Apprentice, has signed Avante Garde, Inc., in association with Bizmore Brands, Inc., to produce and market fine Italian foods including pasta sauce, artisan pasta, olive oil, olives, truffle oil, and balsamic ketchup.

  Franklin & Friends Characters to Be Featured at SeaWorld Parks

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment and Corus Entertainment's Nelvana have entered into a multi-platform partnership that combines Franklin & Friends characters with the SeaWorld brand. Starting in January, the company's new SeaWorld Kids brand and Nelvana will introduce kids and families to in-park Franklin characters, TV specials, books, and merchandise. Franklin will take up residence at the SeaWorld Florida, SeaWorld Texas, and SeaWorld California parks for the year, where guests will be able to meet the characters, take photos, and get autographs. Franklin and Friends specialty merchandise, much of it exclusive to SeaWorld, will be available in the parks, and SeaWorld and Nelvana are collaborating on two Franklin & Friends on-screen specials, which will focus on the natural world. The SeaWorld Kids brand will be reflected in select Franklin products, including co-branded books published by Corus Entertainment's Kids Can Press.

  Cafepress and Viz Media Partner for Customizable Anime Merchandise

CafePress, Inc., and Viz Media have come together to offer fans a selection of official and fan-designed merchandise incorporating VIZ Media's anime brands for lifestyle brand Toshin. CafePress will offer a range of Toshin products that feature characters from VIZ Media's Naruto Shippuden, Bleach, and Death Note, which are currently featured and Neon Alley.

Toshin will have its warriors prominently featured on a line of highly customizable gear, including T-shirts, hoodies, and accessories such as iPad cases. In addition, fans will be able to create unique Toshin products by choosing from a selection of backgrounds that can be combined and integrated with full-color character artwork. Consumers can access and download a range of artwork to create fan designs directly from each anime brand store.
